It is a great pleasure to inaugurate this blog with the news of our first international award. It is the silver medal, in the category of intense mature extra virgin olive oils, awarded at the 18th edition of the International Competition of World Oils, AVPA Paris 2020. AVPA is the Agency for the Valuation of Agricultural Products. A non-profit, non-governmental organisation, made up of producers and taste enthusiasts, whose aim is to contribute to the promotion of agricultural production and the recognition of producers of excellence, in many cases relegated to the background of mass consumption. Every year, more than 1000 producers from all over the world take part in the AVPA competitions. We are also pleased to have been recognised by an organisation whose values identify with our own: giving priority to origin or ‘terroir’ and promoting the principles of respect for nature and sustainable development. AVPA aims to raise awareness among distributors and consumers of the real value of agricultural products that are clearly differentiated by their origin and quality, as opposed to other more standardised products. In our case, an EVOO of the native Cornicabra variety, from olives grown in the extraordinary natural environment of the Sierra de las Villuercas, in the province of Cáceres. A genuine Extremaduran product, with one hundred percent guaranteed traceability. This award is a great encouragement for a young company like Aceites El Tilo; it motivates us to continue on a path undertaken with enthusiasm and effort 3 years ago and to persevere in the permanent improvement of our products and processes. Our sincere thanks to the jury and our recognition to AVPA for its work in support of agricultural producers of excellence in the 5 continents.
